Engine Performance Monitoring
The determination of performances and efficiencies of the ship propulsion system is a crucial prerequisite for a complex process evaluation of ship engine operation. A ship performance improvement can only be done through better and more comprehensive data acquisition.
The necessary measured values are for the most part part of the on-board measuring technique.
The flow measurement finds its application in the most diverse areas, with the most different media. As a medium, liquids or gases can be measured. There are a variety of measurement methods to measure these flows (or consumption). Depending on the application and specification of the medium, the measuring instruments should be selected.
Nondestructive Testing (NDT)
Non-destructive material testing, or NDT, tests the quality of a workpiece without damaging the material itself. For this purpose, various physical effects are used. In our assortment we use the ultrasonic test for material testing (residual metal thickness). It belongs to the nondestructive testing methods. This allows the components to be inspected even when installed without removing the coatings.
Condition monitoring is based on regular or permanent recording of the machine or plant status. Through the measurement or analysis, damage and problems can be detected and resolved in good time.
Every ship is equipped with a high number of pressure and temperature sensors. The accuracy check of these sensors has to be done according to rules of the relevant classification society regulation. The calibrators must be easy to use and should survive in the “heavy duty” environmental on board of a sea going vessel. All calibrators must come with a certificate of accuracy (calibration document) acc. to national standards.
